Andrew recently visited some of the hard top camps run by the Outdoor Education Group (OEG), as well as their National Base in Eildon.
OEG became the inaugural “Key Supporter” Affiliate Member of Outdoors Victoria when they signed onto OV’s new membership structure in 2017. One of the benefits of being a Key Supporter is to have access to OV’s CEO or other staff for a day, so OEG chose to have Andrew meet with more than ten of their key staff at the Eildon Base.
It was beneficial for Andrew to understand first hand some of the challenges OEG face, and therefore for many of the firms in the sector, and also learn of the future opportunities of which there are many.
Andrew noted that the enthusiasm and passion amongst the OEG teams led him to understand how OEG manages to contribute consistently to a number of sector initiatives including, the Outdoor Youth Programs Research Alliance (OYPRA), OV’s Outdoor providers and Camps Sub Committee, and the UPLOADS safety project,
Andrew was tempted to grab a kayak and walk to one of the nearby rivers knowing he was in great hands from a knowledge and safety perspective with the people from OEG.
