Education Outdoors Conference 2020

“Leading with Nature”

THURSDAY 28TH- FRIDAY 29TH MAY

The Education Outdoors Conference is a perfect opportunity to once again come together to discuss current issues; provide professional development,  and share resources amongst the outdoor education community. We are excited to announce that next year we’re setting up camp at Boxhill Institute and the gorgeous Lilydale Lakeside Conference Centre.

In 2020 we are focussing on nature.

Within the overarching theme of nature we’ll be exploring topics such as:

  • our relationship to nature, as individuals and as educators in the outdoor space
  • how to advocate for positive environmental practices at home and in the workplace
  • how to equip ourselves to confidently address the questions of those in our care

To reflect our very special theme, the team is redesigning the conference structure:

“Think of a shared river journey, beginning with experiential learning in the outdoors, moving into a deepened understanding through science, psychology and therapeutic practice and finishing with positive community discussion, action and support.”

We’ll also be engaging more experts from outside our field to facilitate many of the sessions. In the coming months, we will invite you to submit an ‘Expression of Interest’ that will need to fit very specific criteria.

The Dr Brian Nettleton Lecture

Created by OV in 2018 to honour Dr Brian Nettleton, who passed away in 2017.

Brian was a pioneer of Outdoor Education and place-based experiences in Australia. His active engagement in the field had a remarkable influence on the journey of Outdoor Education in Victoria and inspired and supported many Outdoor Education professionals who have continued to think, teach and write in ways he helped establish.
